
Anyone can look up and see the moon shining in a clear night sky! But once you have been introduced to Kate Veale’s Mr. Moon you will know where moon goes on the cloudy nights! Unseen from the earth Mr. Moon jumps into Supafast, his space rocket and with his best friend Silva star, explores the Universe and everything in it. Sunny is left looking after the earth as we meet the constellations, planetoids, nebulae creatures and a truly star studded cast, including Anyold the loveable Alien.
Mr Moon lives in the starry night sky. His job is to light up the darkness and to take care of night -time. But Mr Moon can’t resist an adventure, and when the clouds are thick enough to hide him from the earth, he climbs down from his moon-ladder and jumps into Supafast his space rocket. Mr Moon collects his best friend Silva Star and together they speed off into the Universe. In this giant playground they visit their celestial friends and explore wondrous space features.
Mr Moon is high spirited, loveable and confident. His intentions are good but his insatiable curiosity always gets the better of him.

Silva is Mr Moon’s best friend and sticks by him through thick and thin. Silva loves the excitement Mr Moon creates but he does not have Mr Moon’s confidence. Sometimes the adventures he goes on with Mr Moon give Silva a fright, but he toughs them out. Silva’s more cautious nature can be a help in some circumstances, as he will stop Mr Moon going ahead when things look too dangerous…..!
Silva is loyal and honest, brave and sensible.

Sunny lives in the light, daytime sky. Her job is to shine brightly and warmly and to look after earth. Sunny takes her job of looking after earth very seriously and she works hard, so hard that she only comes down from her sun-ladder to rest in the soft, cool clouds. As Sunny climbs down below earth’s horizon each evening, she looks anxiously for Mr Moon, hoping that he will be back from his adventures in time to take over and look after night-time. If Mr Moon is late, Sunny glows redder and redder with frustration in the sunset sky until he returns!!
Sunny is kind and conscientious, sweet, and full of determination. All the characters respect her hard work but Mr Moon secretly hopes he can persuade her to come with him on an adventure one day!

Gold Star is a quiet, thoughtful star who does not like adventures. He prefers an orderly, calm atmosphere so that he can concentrate on finding out how everything works. He uses his knowledge to invent things and the other characters often go to him when they want to find answers or when they think he will be able to invent a gadget they need. Gold Star is always delighted to help and loves to find explanations for the things that puzzle his friends.
Gold Star is focused and self – reliant, clever and studious.

Pivot and Spin are two mini-planets ‘planetoids’ who live in the regions beyond Neptune, even further out in deep space than Anyold. They behave like twins, finishing each other’s sentences and egging each other on. They are excitable, and when they get excited they spin and pivot and talk faster and faster until they are spinning so fast that they whirl off into space, glowing. Eventually they return when they have calmed down.
Pivot and Spin are mischievous, excitable and full of energy.

Deneb is the mischievous white star who lives in the tail of Cygnus the Swan Constellation. He loves to dive in and out of Cygnus’ feathers and then lie on his soft feathery pillow, arms folded behind his head, looking up at the glittering sky as Cygnus flies around the Universe.
Deneb represents the real star ‘Deneb’ which marks the tail of Cygnus in the real night sky.

Anyold is the loveable alien who lives on the Trojan asteroids near Jupiter. He has a funny, engaging voice and dithers when he has decisions to make. If he dithers for too long he becomes flustered and howls with despair when things go wrong. Anyold was very insecure before he met Mr Moon: he thought that he was ugly and no one would like him. But Mr Moon and his friends do not care what Anyold looks like, they want to be his friend because he is nice to be with.
Anyold is nervous and can be insecure, but he is also loving and adorable.

McCloud is an energetic, experienced cloud who acts as the leader of all the clouds. He has a loud voice with a Scottish accent and loves to organize all the clouds, pointing and shouting like a Sergeant Major. McCloud is very loyal to Mr Moon and Sunny and is always ready to lend them a helping hand.
McCloud is a natural leader, organized and efficient. He is also kind and loyal.

The Bee Stars live in the ‘Beehive’, a beautiful star cluster in the sky near to Gemini the Twins constellation. The Bee Stars all work together to collect ‘star stuff’ which is very useful throughout the Universe.

The constellations in the Mr Moon Series created by Kate Veale are shown as join the dot to dot outlines from a distance, as you would see them in a real night sky. When up close they are shown in more detail as glassy holograms. Kate shows them in their real positions in the heavens, but they can move from these home base positions wherever the stories take them.

Mr Moon drives a bright red space-rocket called ‘Supafast’. Supafast can go very, very fast. In fact it can travel much faster than the speed of light, so Mr Moon is able to visit all kinds of far away planets and exciting space features. Anything could happen on one of these adventures but Mr Moon is confident that the many buttons on Supafast’s dash will enable him to deal with it. Supafast seems like a trusty friend to Mr Moon. Mr Moon pats the bonnet and says ‘We made it Supafast!’ every time they return to safety.
